Divorce
Marriage is the beautiful joining of two souls who commit legally as partners, on a journey through of life. As your adventure together evolves, so do your plans, dreams and future together. You never think that the life you have jointly created will ever come to an end.
Although the statistics show that divorce rates are the lowest they have ever been in 40 years ( based on the Office for National Statistics 2016), sadly there are still 9.8 in every 1,000 people getting divorced.
Nobody thinks that it will happen to them, but when it does, safeguarding a fair portion of all the marital assets must be considered.
A major part of this is ensuring that pensions are considered. They may not seem like an immediate asset or something that is worth keeping, but for those who may not even have full a Basic State Pension, they are vital.
Sometimes, just having a listening ear to work through the finances, ascertaining what your current and future needs are, can be easier than with solicitors, who on the whole, do not understand pensions.
